It was quite late and nearing evening time after a long wait watching distant brown hares, but I could not resist staying just a little longer in the hope of a last minute visit.
 
Just as I was about to pack up my camera for the day, a lone hare ambled across the stubble field and stopped just a few feet away. I held my breath and carefully moved into position so I could take a few shots before it dissapeared into the fading light of the evening.
